The study of attachment in middle childhood, especially among foster and adoptive children, is a critical and timely one. An assessment that helps us understand the behavioral manifestations of attachment for these children, while considering the link with caregiving behavior and parental reflective functioning (PRF) can help to provide effective and efficient intervention leading to security and relational healing. There are limited studies that have investigated levels of hardiness in children. There is even less information on finding hardiness scales that have been normed on children in elementary school. The purpose of this study was to test the validity and reliability of the Hardiness Scale for Children (HSC), which assesses the three subscales of hardiness: Challenge, Control, and Commitment. 121 elementary school students (2nd-5th grade) were selected to complete the HSC. The present study was designed to examine differences in the effect of the number of children in the household (also known as “parity”) on the relationship between initiating joint attention (IJA) and language development. We co-designed paper prototype dashboards for virtual environments for three children with diverse sensory needs. Our goal was to determine individual interaction styles in order to enable comfortable and inclusive play. As a first step towards an inclusive virtual world, we began with designing for three sensory-diverse children who have labels of neurotypical, ADHD, and autism respectively. We focused on their leisure interests and their individual sensory profiles. Emotion dysregulation in children may contribute to poor interpersonal relationships and a variety of internalizing and externalizing psychopathological outcomes in children both with and without ADHD. This study serves to provide an examination of how emotional self-awareness and situationally appropriate emotional expression may affect an individual's ability to broadly regulate emotion and additionally provides an exploratory investigation of how these attributes may affect specific emotion regulation. For the past 11 years, the Boise State University’s Center for Health Policy has partnered with the Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections to analyze data on juveniles entering detention at 13 Juvenile Detention Centers in Idaho. The Alaska Screening Tool (AST) is used to screen juveniles who may or may not meet the criteria for having a mental health problem, substance abuse problem, or both types of problems. Sigmund Freud concludes in the fourth lecture of his "Five Lectures on Psycho-Analysis" that children develop psychosocially in a pattern, learning standards of morality from their parents. "King Lear" is a Shakespearian tragedy that illustrates the role of parents in their children’s lives through the depiction elderly King Lear and his relationship with his favorite daughter Cordelia. What factors contribute to children’s exclusion of in-group members? Past research indicates that children and adolescents are often not willing to exclude in-group members, but might be more willing if in-group members challenged moral group norms (Hitti, Mulvey, Rutland, Abrams, & Killen, 2013). Additionally, it has been found that while children are more likely to help an in-group member but are willing to help an out-group member if they are in need (Sierksma, Thijs, and Verkuyten, 2015). Less is known about exclusion of in-group members who help out-groups in ways that come at a cost to one’s own group. The current study examined evaluations of excluding an in-group member who helps an out-group equally, a little, and a lot when the in-group had varying levels of need for a necessary resource

This study examined 174 responses from children (4th graders) and adolescents (8th graders) (M = 11.10, SD = 1.94), using three vignettes in which each group had varying levels of need for water: 1) both groups need the same, 2) in-group needs more water, and 3) out-group needs more water. Each participant received a scenario in which an in-group member either helped the out-group by distributing found water in ways such that he/she: 1) helped each group equally; 2) helped the out-group less than the in-group; and 3) helped the out-group more than the in-group. Three linear regression model were analyzed, for each need level, with approval of exclusion (“How okay or not okay do you think it is that the group decides that they do not want Sam in the group anymore?”, 1 = Really Not Okay ...
