Community College Librarians And The Acrl Framework: Findings From A National Study, Susan T. Wengler, Christine Wolff-Eisenberg

Publications and Research

This study explored community college librarians’ engagement with the Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education. A national online survey with 1,201 community college librarian respondents reveals limited familiarity with and integration of the Framework into community college instruction to date. Findings indicate an openness to future adoption, as well as substantial interest in targeted professional development and a version of the Framework adapted for community college campuses. Undergraduates use electronic library resources for academic activities because it offers access to relevant and current information from different subject areas. Literature review indicated that undergraduates’ use of electronic library resources is low in Nigeria owing to a number of factors that are largely attributed to user’s attitude, computer literacy and information retrieval skills, but, little attention was given to factors such as demographic variables and academic discipline. Light analyzes "responsible custody," one of eleven core values of archivists as described by the Society of American Archivists. After reviewing professional literature about postcustodial debates in the electronic records environment, advocacy for cultural sensitivity in native or colonial archives, and new models for stewardship associated with the community archives movement, Light proposes to revise this core value as "responsible stewardship."

East Tennessee State University developed a workflow to add journal publications to their institutional repository and faculty profiles using three tools: Zotero for entering metadata, SHERPA/RoMEO for checking copyright permissions, and Unpaywall for locating full-text documents. This study evaluates availability and accuracy of the information and documents provided by Zotero, SHERPA/RoMEO, and Unpaywall for journal publications in four disciplines. This study aims to know about how social media is the preferred source of information about parenting on millennial moms or young mothers in Indonesia. This research was conducted using a quantitative approach through survey. The survey was conducted by using a questionnaire distributed online to the respondents via Facebook. The measuring is clarified by six dimensions: rejection, punishment, support, responsiveness, autonomy, and warmth. This study seeks to assess user perception of the quality of public library services in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana using the LibQUAL+ model. Based on a quantitative approach, the study surveyed 180 patrons of public libraries in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana using convenience sampling technique. Data was analyzed using interpretative techniques. The results showed that patrons were dissatisfied with the quality and depth of equipment and facilities (conducive environment for learning, internet connectivity and computers) and current library materials (print and electronic). This present study is an investigation of user’s satisfaction with library resources and services in polytechnic college libraries in Coimbatore district. A survey research method was adopted to address the research questions. 150 questionnaires were distributed among final year graduate students, postgraduate students, research scholars and faculty members of polytechnic college libraries to collect relevant data regarding their satisfaction. 130 filled -in questionnaires were received and analyzed. On the basis of finding, some suggestions have included in this study to increase user’s satisfaction from libraries.

In 2018 Florida International University (FIU) Libraries launched Athenaeum: Scholarly Works of the FIU Libraries Faculty and Staff. Athenaeum is meant to collect both published and unpublished articles, conference posters, and presentations of library faculty and staff as they pertain to librarianship.
