Mitochondrial dysfunction is implicated in most neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer's disease (AD). We here combined experimental and computational approaches to investigate mitochondrial health and bioenergetic function in neurons from a double transgenic animal model of AD (PS2APP/B6.152H). Experiments in primary cortical neurons demonstrated that AD neurons had reduced mitochondrial respiratory capacity. Interestingly, the computational model predicted that this mitochondrial bioenergetic phenotype could not be explained by any defect in the mitochondrial respiratory chain (RC), but could be closely resembled by a simulated impairment in the mitochondrial NADH flux. Further computational analysis predicted that such an impairment would ...

Aged Pathway To Pca, Jared Ray Stuit

Agricultural Education and Communication

Every year, many students enroll into the Agricultural Education and Communication (AGED) Department and more specifically, the Agricultural Science major. Some of those students assume Agricultural Science is the same as the Crop Science major while hoping to obtain a Pest Control Advisor’s (PCA) license. While it is possible to satisfy the requirements to take the PCA exam through the Agricultural Science major, many students need to piece together their schedule each quarter until they graduate. However, the Agricultural Science major offers students a unique opportunity to expand their education.

By taking the individualized route in the Agricultural Science ...

The purpose of this project was to create training modules for the Cal Poly Dairy. The author’s goal was to incorporate the safety aspect of dairy work into the modules as well. To properly obtain all the necessary information for the modules, the author first had to compile lists from the Cal Poly Dairy’s written standard operating procedures. From here, the majority of time was used to gather video and picture content using a surface tablet that would later be used in the online modules. Once the content was gathered, it had to be organized into files for ...

Shasta County Agriculture Activity Book Project, Kylan Morris, Amy Brown

Agricultural Education and Communication

With the development of an agricultural activity book for the kindergarten level, the authors have selected the top commodities produced in Shasta County and have directly applied them to Next Generation Science Standards. Creation And Implementation Of Marketing Collateral For The Agricultural Education And Communication Department At California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, Bekah Marjorie Reed

Agricultural Education and Communication

In January, 2019 the author created a template in Adobe InDesign to input information to be gathered from professors. The intent of the template was to display relevant information to help students learn more about their future faculty: hometown, areas of research, industry/teaching experience, alma maters, among other information (email address, office location, and office phone number). The author then developed questions and emailed all of the faculty and staff in the Agricultural Education and Communication Department along with a request for a headshot from each member. For those who did not have a headshot available to them, or ...

The Horse's Back As Influenced By Saddle Fit, Katie Millican

Agricultural Education and Communication

Therefore, this project will use devices called the Lameness Locator and a thermal camera along with facilities at the Equine Center in San Luis Obispo, California. The objective of the project is to utilize a population of sound horses and compare the heat detection images of their backs and saddles after being ridden to provide saddle fit data. This project will provide information contributing to closing the gap of equestrians uneducated about the importance of saddle fit.

The reason for researching and conducting a study to prove this point is simple: a horse owner needs to look at the bigger ...
