Differentiating Changes In Population Encoding Models With Psychophysics And Neuroimaging, Jason Hays, Fabian Soto PhD 2019 Florida International University

Differentiating Changes In Population Encoding Models With Psychophysics And Neuroimaging, Jason Hays, Fabian Soto Phd

MODVIS Workshop

It is now common among visual scientists to make inferences about neural population coding of stimuli from indirect measures such as those provided by neuroimaging and psychophysics. The success of such studies depends strongly on simulation work using standard population encoding models extended with decoders (in psychophysics) and measurement models (in neuroimaging). However, not all studies are accompanied by simulation work, and those that are tend to vary widely in their assumptions about encoding, decoding, and measurement. To solve these issues, we designed a Python package (PEMGUIN) to assist computational modelling by providing simple ways to manage encoders' tuning functions ...

Universe Of Things: A Human Presentation Of Food-For-Thought., Madeline Halpern 2019 Washington University in St. Louis

Universe Of Things: A Human Presentation Of Food-For-Thought., Madeline Halpern

Bachelor of Fine Arts Senior Papers

I present this statement under three loose categories: People, Objects and their Environment. I consider People as human, Objects as art objects, domestic objects, and food, and Environment as the shared space of the former groups. Food directs this statement as I present each concept and creative process as a metaphorical dish. Material exploration carried me from a direct practice of reorienting acrylic paint and questioning object functionality through personified sculptures into theoretical thesis work in which I use interpersonal relations and the idea of consumption to translate tactile, gustatory and olfactory sensations into digital film. In this meal I ...

Effects Of Home-Based Exercise Training Systems, Combined With Diet, On Cardiometabolic Health, Christian K. Roberts, David E. Segovia, Eli Lankford 2019 U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs

Effects Of Home-Based Exercise Training Systems, Combined With Diet, On Cardiometabolic Health, Christian K. Roberts, David E. Segovia, Eli Lankford

International Journal of Exercise Science

International Journal of Exercise Science 12(2): 871-885, 2019. The efficacy of exercise training systems designed to be used in the home on cardiometabolic outcomes remains largely unknown. This investigation included two studies. Study 1 tested the effects a multi-exercise pulley system(NordicTrack Fusion CST with video trainer) and Study 2 an incline trainer (NordicTrack X22i with video trainer), both combined with daily food provision, for 12-weeks on indices of cardiometabolic health. Study 1 enrolled 27 adults (11 men, 16 women, 33.8±4.4 years of age) and Study 2 enrolled 29 adults (11 men, 18 women, 40.8 ...

Tear Fluid Pharmacokinetics Following Oral Prednisone Administration In Dogs With And Without Conjunctivitis, Lionel Sebbag, Yuqi Yan, Joe S. Smith, Rachel A. Allbaugh, Larry W. Wulf, Jonathan P. Mochel 2019 Iowa State University

Tear Fluid Pharmacokinetics Following Oral Prednisone Administration In Dogs With And Without Conjunctivitis, Lionel Sebbag, Yuqi Yan, Joe S. Smith, Rachel A. Allbaugh, Larry W. Wulf, Jonathan P. Mochel

Jonathan Mochel

Purpose: To describe the pharmacokinetics (PK) of prednisone and prednisolone in tear fluid of dogs receiving oral prednisone at anti-inflammatory to immunosuppressive doses and to assess the impact of induced conjunctivitis on lacrimal drug levels.

Methods: Six healthy Beagle dogs were administered 4 courses of prednisone at 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, and 4.0 mg/kg given orally once a day for 5 days. At steady state, topical histamine was applied to induce mild (1 mg/mL) or severe (375 mg/mL) conjunctivitis in 1 eye of each dog and tear samples were collected from both eyes at ...

Physical And Thermal Properties Of Chia, Kañiwa, Triticale, And Farro Seeds As A Function Of Moisture Content, Rashid Suleiman, Kun Xie, Kurt A. Rosentrater 2019 Sokoine University of Agriculture

Physical And Thermal Properties Of Chia, Kañiwa, Triticale, And Farro Seeds As A Function Of Moisture Content, Rashid Suleiman, Kun Xie, Kurt A. Rosentrater

Kurt A. Rosentrater

The knowledge of physical and thermal properties in cereals, grains and oilseeds establishes an essential engineering tool for the design of equipment, storage structures, and processes. The physical properties and thermal properties for Chia, Kañiwa, Farro and Triticale grains were investigated at three levels of moisture content: 10%, 15% and 20% (d.b). Physical properties included 1000 seed weight, dimensions, mean diameters, surface area, volume, sphericity, and aspect ratio. Results indicated 1000 seed weight increased linearly with moisture content from 2.0 to 3.5 g for Chai, 2.5 to 4.0 g for Kañiwa, 42.7 to 48 ...
