In recent years, there has been an increase in the growth of the sports industry globally. With it has come the growth of global sports arbitration. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (“CAS”), created in part because of the increase in sport-related arbitration, is designed to promote efficiency and uniformity in the resolution of disputes. [Excerpt] Justice Sandra Day O'Connor has described federalism - how the Constitution divides powers between the federal government and the states - as "perhaps our oldest question of constitutional law."

You Play Ball Like A Girl: Cultural Implications Of The Contact Sports Exemption And Why It Needs To Be Changed, Michelle Margaret Smith

Women in the United States have historically earned significantly less income per year compared to their male counterparts. In 2014, the pay discrepancy was at its lowest point with women earning seventy-nine cents per every dollar men earned. This discrepancy exists even though women now attain college degrees at a higher rate than men and make up 47% of the labor force. In sports, the pay discrepancy is even greater.
