Social networking platforms such as Twitter are playing an increasingly important role in understanding the public’s involvement of social activities. Along with GIS and the volunteered geographic information movement, these technologies have great potential in shaping how urban planning can be conducted. This report will provide details about how an interactive web GIS application was used to connect the public with the Arts Council of Long Beach (ACLB), a non-profit organization.
