The purpose of this study is to investigate (1) how government PR activities influence the image of that country in foreign media and publics; and (2) how the public perception of foreign countries is influenced by news coverage. This thesis examines the relationship between the indigenous peoples and the electoral success of Evo Morales in the 2002 and 2005 Bolivian presidential elections. Morales earned a surprising 20% of the vote in 2002 enough for second place. In 2005, Morales earned over 50% of the presidential vote. He is the first indigenous president of Bolivia and is the first to receive over 50% of the vote since the re-transition to democracy. The Influence Of Custodial, Maintenance, And Residence Life Services On Student Satisfaction In Residence Halls, Li Lanfen, Elena Maximova, Kevin Saunders, Donald F. Whalen, Mack C. Shelley

This study is important because it examines the relationship between students' overall satisfaction with their residence hall living experience and students' satisfaction with various custodial, maintenance, and residence life services. The study, conducted in university residence halls at a Midwestern Carnegie Classification Research extensive university, used a backward step-wise multiple linear regression model with data from a 57-item survey to predict students' satisfaction with their overall residence hall experiences. The strongest predictors were students' comfort and socializing within the living unit. As sluggish growth persists in the state of Iowa, micropolitan areas may provide a viable source for expanding development. This thesis has two primary objectives: to better understand those factors driving population growth among micropolitan areas and to explore micropolitan areas in the state of Iowa as compared to micropolitan areas in other parts of the country. The analyses show a relationship between four of the five growth factors (agglomeration, recreation, immigration, education and diversification) and effective growth rate, the difference between micropolitan population growth and statewide population growth.
