This study is an analysis and critique of the epistemological foundations of the emerging political economy approach in urban studies. The focus on epistemology locates this project squarely within the realm of philosophy. Broadly speaking an epistemological discussion is a philosophical discourse on the conditions of the production of knowledge. It centers on the origins, methods and limits of knowledge and is concerned with how we come to know rather than what we know. Black Political Empowerment In Rural Mississippi: The Cases Of Mound Bayou, Fayette, Bolton, Shelby And Tchula, Cassie O. Jr.

This study looks at black empowerment in five rural Mississippi towns with black mayors by analyzing the impact they have had in attempting to alter the socioeconomic status of blacks in their respective towns. The following indicators were used to measure the political effectiveness of black mayors in reordering the socioeconomic status of blacks: (1) distribution of governmental services to the black community; (2) employment and economic development; (3) housing; and (4) health care. An Analysis Of The United States Counterinsurgency Policy In Colombia, 1960-1975, Ronald Lopez Slaughter

This study is an analysis of the United States policy in counterinsurgency as it was implemented in the country of Colombia in the physical and military defeat of an insurgent guerrilla movement within that country. It was the objective of the policy of counterinsurgency to achieve this task by aiding in the upgrading and professional development of Colombia's military and policy forces. In accomplishing this objective, the Colombian government was able to wage a successful military campaign against the insurgent guerrillas.
