An Analysis Of Voting Trends In Lewis And Clark County From 1948 To 1968, Timothy Mccauley

Political Science and International Relations Undergraduate Theses

Lewis and, Clark County has, throughout the period of its existence, been one of Montana’s most unique and important political districts. Since 1965, Lewis and Clark County has also been known as Montana’s twenty-first political district. This new designation was adopted after the Montana legislature was redistricted and reapportioned in order to conform with the U.S. Supreme Court’s ’’one man, one vote** ruling on re- anportionment. Conseouently, the names Lewis and Clark County and District 21 will be used interchangeably in this thesis.

Although the entire political history of District 21 is colorful and important in ...

The Indonesian Army 1950-1958, James Bigelow

Masters Theses & Specialist Projects

If a man could somehow snap a picture of the world today, a viewer one hundred years hence would certainly notice its many revolutionary characteristics. Perhaps the most important of these relates to the growth of non-Western nationalism and modernization, the "revolution of rising expectations," which has resulted in the formation of many new nations within the last twenty years, led by Western-trained intellectuals in many cases. These new leaders have been faced with the problem that their fellow countrymen do not necessarily share their beliefs in or understanding of nationalism.

The leaders, many of them young, have had to ...

A Descriptive Analysis Of Nebraska's Unicameral Legislature, Harry W. Wade Jan 1969

A Descriptive Analysis Of Nebraska's Unicameral Legislature, Harry W. Wade

Nebraskiana Publications

What is the Nebraska "Unicameral" experience in handling problems relating to organization, procedure, leadership, and lobbying? Has the Nebraska system attracted different kinds of people to legislative service? This study was undertaken for the purpose of determining, on the basis of an investigation of the only one-house state legislative system in the nation, how Nebraska unicameralism functions in present-day circumstances and if the Nebraska experience has produced evidence of alternative ways of dealing with contemporary legislative problems which would tend to bear out the expectations of the supporters of the single-house legislature. Because the Nebraska unicameral plan employs an important ...

George Romney In 1968, From Front-Runner To Drop-Out, An Analysis Of Cause, Richard M. Eyre Jan 1969

George Romney In 1968, From Front-Runner To Drop-Out, An Analysis Of Cause, Richard M. Eyre

Theses and Dissertations

The meteoric political decline of George Romney is unparalleled in political history and in the history of presidential campaigning. In the space of one year, the man evolved from the overwhelming presidential favorite of Republicans, Democrats, and Independents alike to a presidential drop out, criticized severely and even mocked by press and public alike.

There are many opinions as to why this phenomenon occurred. The press has opinions, the public has opinions, and the people closest to George Romney have opinions.

A step by step analysis of Romney's campaign casts light on these opinions and completely discredits some while ...

The Twenty-Fifth Amendment To The Constitution Of The United States : A Thesis ..., Francis Joseph Romano Jan 1969

The Twenty-Fifth Amendment To The Constitution Of The United States : A Thesis ..., Francis Joseph Romano

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations

This paper presents a study of the Twenty·-Fifth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America. The Amendment was first proposed to Congress as Senate and House Joint Resolutions in February 1965. It became law in February 1967, when Nevada secured the distinction of being the 38th state to ratify it, thus fulfilling the required agreement by three·-fourths of the states.

The Amendment has not yet been tested. It is the first comprehensive legislative attempt to solve three related problems that have plagued the executive branch of our government since the earliest days of the Union.
