Language is not simply a medium of communication but also a carrier of meaning, culture, and values between generations. This thesis examines the power of language, its relation to identity, social status, conflict, violence, and peace. The thesis also discusses linguistic discrimination and intolerance in the light of historical facts, the role of media in violence promotion, and the psychological and physiological impacts of violence on individuals and for that reason on communities. In addition, the thesis raises awareness about nonviolent communication to empower individuals to cope with linguistic intolerance and violence.
