The “Trame Verte Et Bleue” French Policy: What Territorial Coherence Does It Offer?, Julie Chaurand, Jean-Philippe Tonneau, Jacques Baudry

Proceedings of the Fábos Conference on Landscape and Greenway Planning

Can the territorial coherence concept facilitate the implementation and the assessment of the French public policy called “Trame verte et bleue” (TVB)?

Coherence is inherent to TVB and is expressly noted in French law. The TVB policy has to be coherent at different territorial levels, from national to local and between adjacent territories. Policy goals linked to landscape ecology concepts have to provide synergies with other territory goals: economic activity, housing, tourism...

How can TVB project coherence be supported? In our work, we rely on the territorial coherence concept which we believe, has yet to be studied in the inter-scale ...

Perceptions And Implementations Of Urban Green Infrastructures In France: Three Cases Of Studies (Paris, Marseille, Strasbourg), Laure Cormier, Etienne Grésillon, Sandrine Glatron, Nathalie Blanc

Proceedings of the Fábos Conference on Landscape and Greenway Planning

Green infrastructures have gradually become imperative in planning since the end of 1990s in Europe (Jongman et al, 2004). Numerous urban areas in France mobilize and reinterpret the notion according to stakes of their territory (Blanc, 2012). With the promulgation of Grenelle 1 and 2 Laws (in 2009 and 2010), today every local authorities have to integrate an ecological reflection on green infrastructures into its planning projects at metropolitan and local scales, called “trame verte”. To cover a plurality of contexts of cultural, social, geographical and ecosystematic levels, three cities were retained to understand how this reflection is set up ...

Agriculture, Influence, And Instability Under The Ancien Régime: 1708-1768, Adam J. Polk

Master's Theses

The French Revolution has been studied from myriad perspectives. The majority of scholarship focuses on the political and urban chaos of the times. Agricultural conditions and the influence of onerous taxation and stagnant agricultural options are given only a cursory examination in most research. This thesis aims to investigate the relationship between agronomic and environmental conditions and the eruption of violence in urban centers during the French Revolution and the years leading up to it (1708-1768). This period prior to the French Revolution serves as a template to investigate the nature of the rural-agricultural influences, with a particular focus paid ...

Improving Small Cities Competitiveness Through Greenway Planning And Design: Vila-Franca-De-Xira Case Study, Lisboa Metropolitan Area, Portugal, Luís Ribeiro, Teresa Dias

Proceedings of the Fábos Conference on Landscape and Greenway Planning

Greenway concept as a strategy to support landscape planning and design has been addressed in research studies and publications worldwide (Fabos and Ryan, 2006). However, to fully understand the significance of greenways as a mean to improve cities landscape, the analysis of the design and implementation levels are crucial in order to assess its efficiency towards life quality and acceptance by local populations. This paper aims to further research the role of greenways on medium/small cities in Portugal, as a mean to improve their competitiveness.

Through the case study of greenway design and implementation in the city of Vila- ...
