Engineering design is a fundamental problem-solving model used by the discipline. Effective problem-solving requires the ability to find and incorporate quality information sources. To teach courses in this area effectively, educators need to understand the information needs of engineers and engineering students and their information gathering habits. This book is the result of an analysis of existing literature related to the marine environment and maritime activities in the Sound, of interviews with key stakeholders in the region and of a workshop held in the spring of 2013. It is being produced as part of the ARTWEI project (Action for the Reinforcement of the Transitional Waters’ Environmental Integrity), an initiative aimed at strengthening the transnational management of transitional waters funded by the EU South Baltic Programme.
