KWRRI Research Reports

This study utilizes anthropological concepts and research methods to study the educational system of a Central Kentucky school district with the goal of predicting the impact on it of a proposed multi-purpose (flood control, recreation, etc.) reservoir, and proposing options for forestalling dysfunctional aspects of that impact. The impact will result from the fact that although the county is now rurally oriented, the proposed reservoir will attract (has already begun to attract) urbanite residents from nearby Louisville, Kentucky's largest urban center, who can be expected to bring urban values concerning education, as well as other areas. To assess probable ...

Department of Anthropology Papers

In the most extreme situation a rug is woven by women in a nomadic encampment in central Asia. It is meant for domestic consumption as a primary item of furniture. However, when times are hard, as in the recent famine, the nomad takes it to a local bazaar center where it is sold for cash. Through ...

The writer reexamined this hypothesis in light of a significant collection of Dalton points from Yell County, Arkansas, and further substantiates the hypothesis formulated by Morse and tested by Goodyear.

WKU Archives Records

Articles written by honors program students. They were originally research projects, class papers or essays written for academic credit, but in each case the student has done further work editing and improving his or her manuscript for this publication. The articles represent a broad range of interests and disciplines, and they indicate a healthy attempt on the part of at least some students to dig for deeper knowledge and understanding than is usually associated with undergraduate study.

Joel M. Halpern

Buddhism is one of the more important components of Lao culture but it is easy to misunderstand. The position of Buddhism and the role of religious beliefs are subtle and diffuse. Basic to the understanding of Buddhism in politics and government is the knowledge of its structure and function.
