Youth development takes place in many contexts, with different resulting participant outcomes. Broadening the scope of research to include non-traditional contexts such as youth circus arts programs, which are both similar to and different from other out-of-school-time contexts, may promote better understanding of the ways in which these programs impact youth development. The present study examined the prevalence of support for basic psychological needs and positive developmental outcomes among youth circus program participants. This study investigated the effects of changing the entry-angle of a jump landing movement on ACL injury risk factors. Eight female recreational athletes performed 21 trials of a jump landing task. The direction of the first jump varied from -90° to 90° from the anterior axis in 30-degree increments. As the entry angle increased to the left, peak knee flexion and valgus angles as well as external valgus moments remained the same. Exercise and meditation improve health and well-being, potentially through decreasing systemic inflammation. In this study, healthy adults (N = 413) were randomized to 8 weeks of training in aerobic exercise, matched mindfulness-based stress reduction, or wait-list control. Three inflammation-related biomarkers (C-reactive protein, interleukin-6, and interferon-gamma-inducible protein-10) were assessed preintervention, directly postintervention, and 17 weeks later. Within-group analyses found that exercise participants had decreased serum interferon-gamma-inducible protein-10 postintervention and 17 weeks later, whereas C-reactive protein was lower in mindfulness-based stress-reduction participants 17 weeks postintervention only. Widely cited literature assumes habits to be: (1) specific and rigid behavioral responses; (2) in response to location- and timing-stable, external contexts, (3) goal-independent, and (4) enacted without conscious awareness. Purpose: To evaluate the independent and combined associations of cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) and muscular strength (MS) with arterial stiffness (AS) in older adults.

Methods: This cross-sectional study included 427 older adults aged ≥65 years (mean age 72). This pattern of affective responses might be related to the deviation of incremental and prolonged patterns of exercise from the innate propensity of children for intermittent movement. Immunosenescence poses a formidable challenge in designing effective influenza vaccines for aging populations. While approved vaccines against influenza viruses exist, their efficacy in older adults is significantly decreased due to the diminished capabilities of innate and adaptive immune responses. In this work, the ability of a combination nanovaccine containing both recombinant hemagglutinin and nucleoprotein to provide protection against seasonal influenza virus infection was examined in young and aged mice. Vaccine formulations combining two nanoadjuvants, polyanhydride nanoparticles and pentablock copolymer micelles, were shown to enhance protection against challenge compared to each adjuvant alone in young mice.
