This paper examines a curricular issue in general within public and private high schools in the Philippines. This paper presents six known and documented errant points found in textbooks that promote an evolutionary worldview and are commonly found in local high school biology textbooks. The proposed solutions present several questions designed to facilitate formation of the readers’ own views regarding this phenomenon.

This exploratory study investigated three aspects of introductory undergraduate biology students’ understanding about cells. The study, which took place at the University of Maine with voluntary students in Basic Biology (“BIO100”) in the summer and fall of 2009, examined (1) students’ pre-course perceptions of cells as they exist in a living context and (2) gains in students’ perception and knowledge about cells after completing the one-semester course (BIO100). Citizen science projects present a distinctive opportunity for professional and volunteer scientists to coordinate their efforts to gather unique sets of data that can benefit the scientific and local communities. This study investigated preservice teachers from two teacher education programs,
elementary generalists and bilingual generalists (who will teach all subjects in both
English and Spanish), about their instructional design abilities via examination of
their ability to integrate interdisciplinary-themed activities into mathematics lessons.
The findings illustrate the value provided by differentiating teacher preparation for
preservice bilingual teachers—especially for challenging STEM-related (science,
technology, engineering, and mathematics) subjects such as mathematics—based on
their distinctive pedagogical, cognitive, and linguistic requirements.

During Fall semester of 2007, a semester-long, quasi-experimental study was conducted at Boise State University to investigate the effectiveness of a systematically sequenced and managed, self-paced e-learning activity on improving students’ academic performance and motivation. A total of 125 students enrolled in 3 different sections of a Precalculus class participated in the study. This article juxtaposes world culture and policy borrowing and lending literatures to understand policy formation in China. Through reviewing China’s student nutrition policy evolution since the International Conference on Nutrition in 1992 to the launch of China’s landmark national rural student nutrition program in 2011, I examine what the key explanations to the policy developments in China were. This dissertation sought to determine if eye movements could serve as an indicator of success in spatial reasoning, and if eye movements associated with successful completion could be applied to strategically improve spatial reasoning.

Using the line images of Shepard and Metzler, an electronic test of mental rotations ability (EMRT) was designed. Student creativity and problem-solving skills are not typically activated with common teaching practices. There are documented studies on the Wildlife Habitat Education Program (WHEP) that relate to building life skills of participants. However, no literature was found that measured the perceptions of the participants towards a career in wildlife after participating in WHEP. To add validity to the program a focus group was conducted at the Tennessee 4-H wildlife judging contest to describe the WHEP participants’ perceptions of careers in wildlife after the completion of the annual program. Focus group participants indicated that participating in WHEP peaked their interest in wildlife and provided an opportunity to experience the importance of natural resource management.

Many reasons are given for Finnish success yet few of them focus on what is happening in the mathematics classroom.
