Predictors Of Bone Density In Women: A Longitudinal Study, Susan G. Munroe

This research was a 15-year follow-up study of the relationships of age, physical measurements, diet group (non-vegetarian, NV; vegetarian, V), use of estrogen, dietary intakes of energy, calcium, and bone density in 60 healthy postmenopausal NV (n=31) and V (n=29) women, (age range 53-92). The V group was comprised of 29 lacto-ovo-vegetarian women, the remaining 31 subjects were NV. All subjects had been participants in an earlier (1976-1979) bone density study conducted in these laboratories. The purposes of this research were to develop comparable sets of unipolar adjectives for consumer evaluation of fabric hand for English and Korean speakers and to examine how males and females in the United States and Korea use these descriptors. This research also examined preferences of judges for hand of shirt fabrics for the judge's own sex and for the other sex. The psychological approach was used for this research because human judgments of fabric hand provide multi-dimensional understanding of fabric properties. Implementation Of Mandated Health Concepts In The Curricula Of Iowa Secondary Schools , Brenda Lee Mccoy

The overall purpose of this study was to determine how schools are incorporating health concepts into their curricula. A sample of 148 Iowa secondary school health teachers, 97 (66%) females and 51 (34%) males responded to a health education survey related to two specific purposes of the study, which were to examine: (1) organizational aspects of health curricula for grades nine through twelve, and (2) secondary school health teachers' attitudes toward the eleven health strands that make up one unit of health as mandated by the Iowa General Assembly. The purposes of this study were (1) to develop a model of career choice by college students, (2) to identify variables influencing college students' choice of home economics careers, and (3) to determine the impact of the interactions of these variables on college students' choice of home economics careers. The objectives of the present study were to (a) develop an interview procedure for selection of fast food restaurant swing managers that would be valid, reliable, and usable, and (b) determine the personal, situational, and business characteristics that best predict swing manager performance. Instrument development and pilot testing were conducted in Iowa with the assistance of a six-person advisory panel. The serger machine, also known as an overlock, has revolutionized home sewing. They are fast, convenient, andd produce a professional seam. A serger will sew up to 1700 stitches per minute wheras the conventional sewing machine sews form 700 to 1100 stitches per minute. They can stitch, trim and overcast all at the same time.
