Reasons For Participation In Clothing Construction Classes , Edna Riley Bell Mount

This research was designed to determine why adults attend beginning clothing construction classes, if adults would select beginning clothing construction classes if other courses were available, and if selected variables are related to adult motives. One hundred ninety-nine adults enrolled in beginning clothing construction classes in Iowa public schools or the area community colleges responded to questionnaires which contained 63 reasons for enrolling in the class. Response rate was 91 percent;Factor analysis procedures identified six clusters of interrelated items from 50 of the 63 items. The primary objective of the research was to develop a procedure to assess change in affective behavior in a given instructional situation. The class used as a basis for the study was a culturally oriented food production management course;Seventy-eight affective behaviors and 160 behavioral incidents were identified and classified according to the Taxonomy of Educational Objectives Handbook II: Affective Domain by Krathwohl et al. The purpose of this study was to determine the feasibility of one procedure for evaluating the parenthood education component of secondary vocational home economics programs in Iowa. The purpose was to determine participant outcomes of Iowa secondary vocational homemaking programs with emphasis on consumer education.
