The National Standards for Teachers of Family and Consumer Sciences (Standards) (Appendix A), adopted in 2004, provide an integrated set of standards which form a framework for program development, implementation and assessment for Family and Consumer Sciences teacher preparation. Periodic review of standards is recommended by organizations involved in standards setting (ISO, 2009; NSTA, 2003). This study explored implementation of the Standards by states and their respective teacher preparation programs and reviewed the 2004 Standards (NSTFCS, 2004).
