This article describes the ISU 4U Promise, an innovative college access and affordability initiative. Through this early-commitment partnership program between Iowa State University and Des Moines Public Schools, youth from two urban elementary schools are eligible for tuition awards when they enroll as undergraduates at Iowa State University. Drawing on a review of promise programs in the educational scholarly literature, this article identifies what makes the ISU 4U Promise distinctive among promise efforts in terms of contextual antecedents, implementation processes, and potential institutional outcomes. This article describes one team’s efforts to assess the culture of engagement at Virginia Tech. The team utilized a two-pronged approach to analyze the current culture of engagement on campus. This included focus groups with faculty, administrators, and graduate students in two colleges at the university to address pedagogy, implications, and practical issues related to engagement. Analysis of college strategic plans was also completed to assess language related to engagement and engaged scholarship. This study utilized an experimental research design to investigate the differences in long-term attitudes towards individuals with disabilities among young adults who had participated in an intervention program designed to develop positive academic and social relationships among students with and without disabilities, and young adults who had not. The Interaction with Disabled Persons Scale was employed to determine if the primary independent variable (P.A.R.T.N.E.R.S. Program) produced more favorable attitudes among participants. In this hermeneutic phenomenological study, I explore the lived experience of 5 middle school girls in grades 5-9, who have experienced bullying. My question for this study asks, "What is the lived experience of adolescent girls who have experienced female bullying?" The purpose of this qualitative study was to identify and analyze themes related to the perceptions of high school guidance counselors regarding family and consumer sciences (FCS) courses to understand their potential influence on students. The study explains college students' entrepreneurial attitudes and intentions as they prepare for careers in the field of Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS). It examined relationships between leadership behavior, entrepreneurial intensity, and attitudes as variables explaining and predicting entrepreneurial intentions of FCS students in early stages of their college education. The fundamental assumption was that how FCS students reach program of study and career decisions is inconclusive. The objectives of this study were to design a leadership curriculum for family and consumer sciences female undergraduate students to be implemented as a course or infused into existing courses, and to conduct a formative evaluation of the curriculum. Curriculum content was based on recommendations of theorists of "transformational leadership" Bennis and Nanus (1985), Kouzes & Posner(1987), and Tichy and Devanna, (1986); leadership experts, and students. A draft curriculum was developed and pilot tested with seven undergraduate and two graduate students.
