The purpose of this study was to determine the extent to which the Iowa public school food service (SFS) district directors incorporated nutrition education into SFS programs. A preliminary qualitative study was conducted to obtain in-depth information about nutrition education in SFS programs. The resulting information from interviews with 12 private SFS directors was used to develop a self-administered questionnaire for this study;The questionnaire consisted of three parts: demographic information, nutrition education activities, and attitudes toward nutrition education. The purposes of this study were (1) to determine the effects of various exposure times and pesticide composition on contamination levels and breakthrough times of nitrile, neoprene, and barrier laminate glove materials exposed to two granular pesticides: terbufos (CounterRTM 20CR) and tefluthrin (forceRTM 3G) and (2) to determine the effects of cleanup methods, detergent, and laundering temperature on reduction of pesticide contamination;Three experiments were conducted. The purpose of this study was to conduct a community assessment to determine the barriers to accessing primary health care for children in Chickasaw County, Iowa. Bronfenbrenner's (1986) ecological perspective on the interaction between the family and the environment was adapted to explain the barriers to health care. The overall purpose of this study was to determine how schools are incorporating health concepts into their curricula. A sample of 148 Iowa secondary school health teachers, 97 (66%) females and 51 (34%) males responded to a health education survey related to two specific purposes of the study, which were to examine: (1) organizational aspects of health curricula for grades nine through twelve, and (2) secondary school health teachers' attitudes toward the eleven health strands that make up one unit of health as mandated by the Iowa General Assembly. The Impact Of Parents And Peers On Teenage Sexual Behavior , Barbara Ann Henderson Kennedy

The purpose of this research was to develop a path model to explain adolescent sexual behavior. The findings indicate that peer's sexual behavior has a significant impact on the teen's sexual behavior. The transmission of parental sexual values appears to come from the opposite gender parent. Parenting practices of father appear to impact on the teen's attitudes and behaviors.
