Sustaining Innovation In Career And Technical Education, Brenda S. Clark

This study will seek to determine what components are necessary to sustain and grow a Career and Technical Education program. The primary audiences for the research study will be community college and university teacher preparation departments and career and technical education departments.

A survey was sent to Occupational Education Studies (OES) students and to OES ...

Instructional Perspectives Of Nurse Educators Engaged In Teaching Via Distance Education, John A. Henschke Edd

IACE Hall of Fame Repository

The purpose of this study was to contribute to knowledge regarding instructional perspectives of 35 University of Missouri-St. Louis nurse faculty, who were teaching via distance education formats. The study was designed to identify differences of respondents rating the seven factors of the Instructional Perspectives Inventory (IPI), which include: teacher empathy with learners; teacher trust of learners; planning and delivery of instruction; accommodating learner uniqueness; teacher insensitivity toward learners; learner-centered learning processes; and teacher-centered learning processes (Henschke, 1994). This study also identified differences between the seven factors and specific demographic data (age, number of years teaching nursing, number of semesters ...

A Comparison Of The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Type Characteristics And Demographics Between Students Enrolled In The Dmacc Health Care Administration Program And Iowa-Licensed Nursing Home Administrators , Wendy Ringgenberg Jan 2004

A Comparison Of The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Type Characteristics And Demographics Between Students Enrolled In The Dmacc Health Care Administration Program And Iowa-Licensed Nursing Home Administrators , Wendy Ringgenberg

Retrospective Theses and Dissertations

Recent studies have identified a decline in the number of candidates sitting for the national nursing home administrator licensing exam (NAB, 2003), while other studies have recognized a decline in the number of students enrolling and completing nursing home administrator educational programs (McGinnis, 2003). This occurrence is directly in conflict with the burgeoning aging population and the anticipated 200--300% increase in nursing home use that is expected by the year 2030.;Iowa's largest nursing home administrator education program is the Health Care Administration program at Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) and serves approximately 38 students each semester. DMACC ...

Variables Influencing The Use Of Institutional Outcomes Assessment Results In Institutional Decision-Making: An Attitudinal Survey Of Chief Academic Officers From Public Two-Year Institutions In The North Central Region , Janet Lynn Woldt

Retrospective Theses and Dissertations

Successfully completing the assessment process and using the resulting findings to inform institutional decision-making processes is one of the most difficult, least understood, and least researched phases of the assessment process. Difficult though it may be, closing the loop, as it is commonly called, is necessary for improvement to occur. Accreditation agencies recognize the importance of closing the loop and now mandate that institutions document how the results of the assessment process are being used for institutional improvement. This exploratory study sought to identify which areas of institutional decision-making the results of the assessment process are being used in the ...

A Study Of Resource Expenditures And Allocation At Deep Colleges And Universities: Is Spending Related To Student Engagement?, Ann M. Gansemer-Topf, Kevin Saunders, John H. Schuh, Mack Shelly

Education Publications

Institutions were selected for the Documenting Effective Educational Practices (DEEP) study because they have higher than expected graduation rates and scores on the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE). These institutions have been characterized in a number of ways, but, most important, it was presumed that faculty, students, administrators, and others engaged in a variety of institutional activities and practices that advanced learning.
