This study examined how and why faculty adopt podcasting as an instructional technology tool in their teaching. Podcasting is an instructional technology tool being used for teaching and learning in higher education. Faculty may record lectures with audio, video, and/or PowerPoint slides to instruct students on class material. Students may access podcasts at their convenience through various devices, including mobile devices and computers. Positive Workplace Dynamics: A Qualitative Exploration Of Exceptional Performance In Community College Units, R. Michael Stapleton

In this companion dissertation findings are reported of applied case study research on four community college organizational units that consistently meet or exceed standard performance measures. Ample prior evidence confirmed that performance extended significantly beyond what might be explained by available tangible resources alone. The case study contexts are common in higher education in general: a) an external partnership, (b) an ad hoc team, (c) a traditional, cross-divisional service unit, and (d) a grant-funded student service unit.

The purpose of this study was to examine a paired, developmental learning community to understand how it enhances learning at a selected community college---Metropolitan Community College in Omaha, Nebraska. Learning communities are defined as purposeful restructuring of an undergraduate curriculum that thematically link or cluster courses together and enroll a common group of students (MacGregor & Smith, 2005). This study analyzed the academic performance of successful community college transfer students by academic discipline courses. Grade distributions were compared between Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) and Iowa State University (ISU) by matched disciplines. A T-test for equality of means and chi-square analysis was used to determine significant differences in the grade distributions.;The participants included 837 transfer students that graduated with a bachelor's degree from ISU between 1998 and 2002. Nursing students enter the community college setting with multiple and different roles, and continue to fulfill the responsibilities associated with those roles. This descriptive study attempted to assess the nursing students' understanding of their roles, and the barriers and resources they encountered as they fulfilled their roles or delegated the responsibilities associated with those roles to family and friends.
