The author uncovers historical approaches and contexts of Christopher Fry's The Lady's Not for Burning to justify recommendations for future productions. She argues that this play can be successful through non-realist dramaturgy, as the rise of absurdism and kitchen-sink dramas in England in the years following the play's debut prioritized realism and image over language.
