The Messianic Prophecy Concept In The Old Testament: Definition And Statistics, Caleb Otniel Traian Nechifor

Caleb Otniel Traian Nechifor

This article wants to approach not only the prophecy from the Old Testament’s inside in general, but also the messianic prophecy in particularly. To reach this purpose, the article starts describing work as a minister in the Old Testament during the time of the Hebraic peregrine, one of Israel dynasty and then one of the prophets. Later, the article defines the concept of prophecy from the Old Testament’s inside, describing the importance and frequency wherewith appear the messianic prophecy in Hebraic history, because it’s known that any prophecy assumes not only the promise, but also achievement. The ...

The Reactionary Road To Free Love: How Doma, State Marriage Amendments And Social Conservatives Undermine Traditional Marriage, Scott Titshaw Dec 2012

The Reactionary Road To Free Love: How Doma, State Marriage Amendments And Social Conservatives Undermine Traditional Marriage, Scott Titshaw

Scott Titshaw

Much has been written about the possible effects on different-sex marriage of legally recognizing same-sex marriage. This article looks at the defense of marriage from a different angle: It shows how rejecting same-sex marriage results in political compromise and the proliferation of “marriage light” alternatives (e.g., civil unions, domestic partnerships, or reciprocal beneficiaries) that undermine the unique status of marriage for everyone. In the process, it examines several aspects of the marriage debate in detail. After describing the flexibility of marriage as it has evolved over time, the article focuses on recent state constitutional amendments attempting to stop further ...

נבואה והסדר המדיני המושלם: התיאולוגיה המדינית של ליאו שטראוס Prophecy And The Perfect Political Order: The Political Theology Of Leo Strauss, Haim חיים O. Rechnitzer רכניצר

Haim O Rechnitzer חיים א. רכניצר

The theological-political problem, the inherent tensions between religion, human intellect and political society are the focus of the book Philosophy and the Perfect Political Order: the Political Theology of Leo Strauss. Strauss, (1899-1973) one of the greatest scholars of political philosophy, never produced an independent philosophy. Instead, his philosophical thought is entwined within commentary on the works of Maimonides, Hobbes, Spinoza, Nietzsche and others. In this book, it is reconstructed through a comprehensive investigation of his works. Strauss placed himself in opposition to his teachers and colleagues Herman Cohen, Franz Rosenzweig, and Martin Buber. He challenged their syntheses of Judaism ...

Noor Jamaliah Ibrahim

Awareness among Malaysian people towards halal issues is a good sign of holistic development and very beneficial indeed. Starting from this point, this paper will discuss about the concept of halal according to Abu Mansur alMaturidi, cited from his interpretation’s works known as Ta’wilat Ahl al-Sunnah.

Webs Of Faith As A Source Of Reasonable Disagreement, Gregory Brazeal Jan 2012

Webs Of Faith As A Source Of Reasonable Disagreement, Gregory Brazeal

Gregory Brazeal

Contemporary political theorists and philosophers of epistemology and religion have often drawn attention to the problem of reasonable disagreement. The idea that deliberators may reasonably persist in a disagreement even under ideal deliberative conditions and even over the long term poses a challenge to the common assumption that rationality should lead to consensus. This essay proposes a previously unrecognized source of reasonable disagreement, based on the notion that an individual's beliefs are rationally related to one another in a fabric of sentences or web of beliefs. The essay argues that an individual's beliefs may not form a single ...

Hermeneutcs, Prophecy, And The Church, Jordan P. Ballard Jan 2012

Hermeneutcs, Prophecy, And The Church, Jordan P. Ballard

Jordan P Ballard

The principles of interpretation, known as hermeneutics, are essential to interpreting the text of Scripture and to identifying the overarching storyline of the Bible. Principles of interpretation are needed because the Bible is an ancient text which is separated from the modern reader in terms of distance, time, language, and culture. Evangelical scholars begin with the method of grammatical-historical exegesis to analyze both the original language and the cultural context of the text in order to properly understand Scripture. Grammatical-historical exegesis includes studying the context, grammar, semantics, syntax, and historical and cultural backgrounds of the text. The grammatical-historical method is ...

Identifying Immanuel In Isaiah 7,14, Jordan P. Ballard

Jordan P Ballard

The purpose of this paper is to bring to the discussion table a comprehensive study of the issues surrounding the Immanuel prophecy. By way of introduction, this paper will review the nature of the controversy through a brief summary of the historical setting, but the priority of this paper is given to conducting an exegetical study of the Immanuel prophecy. Afterwards, this paper will proceed with a presentation of interpretative options regarding the historical fulfillment of Isaiah 7:14, including strengths and weaknesses of each, with a view to helping the reader understand how scholars arrive at various positions. The ...

Exegetical Paper_Hebrews_10-26-31, Keith W. Burt Jan 2012

Exegetical Paper_Hebrews_10-26-31, Keith W. Burt

Keith w Burt

The warning passage of Hebrews 10:26-31 is one of five such passages in the book of Hebrews and has been considered by many the direst in its discussion of apostasy. These passages have been the focal point of significant divisive debate throughout church history. In this paper, while keeping with a "once saved-always saved" doctrinal belief, it will be shown that an objective exegesis, given pre-understandings within an evangelical cultural background and presuppositions developed through the influential preaching and teaching of many evangelical pastors, can arrive at the plain meaning of the text intended by the original author to ...

Cessationists Negate Holy Spirit Deity, Keith W. Burt Jan 2012

Cessationists Negate Holy Spirit Deity, Keith W. Burt

Keith w Burt

While theologians such as John MacArthur and Robert Thomas diminish the divinity of the Holy Spirit in their cessationist treatment of the charismata, the Open but Cautious approach better explains the evidence in church history and maintains full divinity of the Holy Spirit.

Three Critical Issues Facing The Evangelical Church, Keith W. Burt Jan 2012

Three Critical Issues Facing The Evangelical Church, Keith W. Burt

Keith w Burt

The three most critical issues for the evangelical church and academia to address are a departure from the God of the Bible, an unbalanced Trinitarian understanding, and acceptance of the tension between transcendence and immanence of God.

Abandonment – Who, How, Why: A Case For A Multifaceted Understanding Of Jesus’ Cry From The Cross In Mark 15:34, G. Dan Harris Jan 2012

Abandonment – Who, How, Why: A Case For A Multifaceted Understanding Of Jesus’ Cry From The Cross In Mark 15:34, G. Dan Harris

G. Dan Harris

The view of Christ bearing our sins on the cross is a necessary component of various atonement theories that exist. Within these atonement theories there exists a need for God’s justice. Therefore, as Christ took these sins of mankind upon Himself, part of the experience that His humanity dealt with was genuine separation. This was not necessarily because the Father somehow had to “look away”; it was rather because mankind’s sins have created a real separation from God and a genuine experience of abandonment. Thus, Christ experienced the abandonment (separation from God) in our place and because of ...
