An Historical Study Of Christian Cosmic, Ray Roennfeldt Nov 2016

An Historical Study Of Christian Cosmic, Ray Roennfeldt

Ray Roennfeldt

Cosmic dualism presented one of the most pervasive and challenging alternatives to Christian orthodoxy from early Christian times through to the Middle Ages. Manichaeism was the most prominent sect to purposefully promulgate dualism within the Christian Church, and its success can be measured by the fact that for centuries the Church tended to label anything that seemed to be dualistic as "Manichaean". The problem for the historian is to determine whether the sects on the fringe of the Church were indeed dualistic and whether they, in fact, had any common link with Manichaeism. Time and space preclude an exhaustive treatment ...

The Problem Of Ordination: Lessons From Early Christian History, Darius Jankiewicz Aug 2016

The Problem Of Ordination: Lessons From Early Christian History, Darius Jankiewicz

Darius Jankiewicz

Like most modern Christian denominations, Seventh-‐day Adventists acknowledge the pastoral call through the rite of ordination. We have also adopted the three-‐fold structure of ministry in the church— pastor, elder, and deacon—each initiated by a separate rite of laying-‐on-‐of-‐hands and each referred to as ordination. The lack of unambiguous Scriptural data, however, has resulted in a decades-long intradenominational discussion on the meaning of and qualifications for ordination of pastors, elders, and deacons. It is indisputable, and Scripturally warranted, that Christian community needs its authoritative leaders in order to function and propagate its mission in ...

Faith And Foreign Policy In India: Legal Ambiguity, Selective Xenophobia, And Anti-Minority Violence, Chad M. Bauman Jun 2016

Faith And Foreign Policy In India: Legal Ambiguity, Selective Xenophobia, And Anti-Minority Violence, Chad M. Bauman

Chad M. Bauman

As a secular democracy, India’s constitution enshrines relatively robust safeguards for religious equality and freedom. Article 25 provides all citizens the right to “freely profess, practice, and propagate” religion, and avoids assigning to Hinduism any special role or explicit privilege (in contradistinction to the situation with Buddhism in Sri Lanka, for example). Moreover, the Indian government itself has not generally engaged in any systematic or flagrant way in the direct persecution or oppression of its religious minorities.
However, India’s religious minorities do face certain challenges. Among them are several legal and judicial issues. Judicial rulings in independent India ...

¿Los Adventistas Del Séptimo Día Y Los Católicos Creen En La Misma Doctrina De La Trinidad?, Denis Kaiser

Denis Kaiser

The Connection Between Slavery And Prophecy As It Related To The American Nation In The Writings Of The Adventist Pioneers During The Antebellum Period, Trevor O'Reggio, Dojcin Zivadinovic

Trevor O'Reggio

The period between 1850 and 1865 was a period of major social upheavals in American society; the major issue was the slavery. This period also witnessed the birth and organization of the Sabbatarian Adventism, a pre-millennial Christian movement distinguished by an emphasis on the Seventh-day Sabbath and a special understanding of Bible prophecies. Most Adventist pioneers vehemently opposed slavery, although not always on the same ground as their Christian counterparts. Aided by their peculiar understanding of Bible prophecy, the early Adventists identified America with apocalyptical end-time power, slavery being the key attribute of the “beast that looks like a lamb ...

La Teología De La Creación Según Martín Lutero En Sus Lecciones Sobre El Génesis, Denis Kaiser Dec 2015

La Teología De La Creación Según Martín Lutero En Sus Lecciones Sobre El Génesis, Denis Kaiser

Denis Kaiser
