Called To Serve: Understanding The Role Of The Woman’S Mission Decision Narrative In Latter-Day Saint Culture And Belief, Rachel Ross

All Graduate Plan B and other Reports

In my thesis I explore the role of mission decision narratives of women in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Before 2012, women could not serve missions until age 21. Once the minimum age was changed to 19 in October of 2012, many more women were able to serve on mission as the opportunity was less likely to disrupt their education or romantic relationships. In The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, missions are seen as a priesthood duty for men but a matter of choice for women. This ability to choose and the narrative that follows ...

A Strategy For Starting Missional Communities In Singapore Through Bivocational Ministry, Kieran Chew Jul 2019

A Strategy For Starting Missional Communities In Singapore Through Bivocational Ministry, Kieran Chew

Doctor of Ministry Projects

The purpose of this project is to develop a strategy for starting missional communities in Singapore through the work of bivocational personnel. To achieve this, a new work was started with the intention of reaching non-Christians, bringing them into community and discipleship, developing them as leaders and empowering and releasing them to form new missional communities. Special attention was made on spiritual formation, community life together and a transformative leadership process of developing leaders who replicate themselves.

The context of Singapore is one in which Christianity has enjoyed great success. Singapore churches generally embrace a missiological theology but this outlook ...

Mission In The Diaspora: The Role Of Migrants (Refugees) As Principal Bearers Of The Christian Faith, Emmanuel Anim

Spiritus: ORU Journal of Theology

Th is paper explores migration and displacement as both a crisis and opportunity. It maintains that throughout biblical history—and even in the history of modern mission—migrants and refugees have often become the principal bearers of the Christian faith. In our own generation, Africans who have migrated to other parts of the world for various reasons have traveled with their faith. Many African churches such as Kingsway International Christian Centre, Th e Church of Pentecost, Winners Chapel International, International Central Gospel Church, and Victory Bible Church International have all established branches of their churches in the diaspora through the ...

A Disciple Development Strategic Design For A Mission-Minded Ministry In A Post-Modern Era, Jonathan E. Logan Mar 2019

A Disciple Development Strategic Design For A Mission-Minded Ministry In A Post-Modern Era, Jonathan E. Logan

Doctor of Ministry Projects

This project devises a strategy requiring leadership commitment, supported by an operating style that inspires trust, obedience, and hope to sustain a disciple development culture at Antioch Church of God in Christ Church in Peoria, Arizona. The theological foundation of the study was Jesus’ mandate (Mt 28:18-20) and the spiritual maturation process (Rom 12:1-2). An improvement opportunity was identified in aligning the ministry culture to the theological practice supporting disciple development. Challenges associated with the community’s perception of the Pentecostal reformation were examined contextually. An original grace-based conceptual model was used for a senior leader’s retreat ...

Identity, Mission, And Markets: A Multiple-Case Study On Select Catholic High Schools In The United States, Danielle N. Trollinger Jan 2019

Identity, Mission, And Markets: A Multiple-Case Study On Select Catholic High Schools In The United States, Danielle N. Trollinger

Graduate Theses and Dissertations

Since 1965, over 7,000 Catholic schools have closed in the United States. This phenomenon is referred to by both Catholic and secular news agencies as, “The Catholic School Crisis.” The crisis is in part due to the marketization of education in the United States which has created a competitive economic market between all types of schools. In a market-driven culture, schools compete for students and funds the same way businesses compete for customers and dollars. This multiple-case study investigated how leaders within select Catholic high schools understand and communicate their institutional identity within a market context and how that ...

Missional Apologetics: An Examination Of Essential Elements In The Apologetic Approaches Of Early Christian Era Apologists In Light Of The Mission Of Christ To A Pluralistic World, George B. Bannister Sr

Doctoral Dissertations and Projects

The cultural ethos known as postmodernism has impacted the epistemological and functional structures of contemporary society in dramatic ways. Changes in the attitudes, standards, and belief systems from which people operate in their day-to-day lives have seen radical alterations in the last fifty years. The impact of the postmodern milieu has been evident in various ways in local church ministry, as well as the extension of local church ministry on the mission field. As a result of the waning effectiveness of traditional evangelism methods and indications that there is a relationship between that waning efficacy and the postmodern milieu, scholars ...
