In this chapter Ellen White's visionary purpose for Seventh-day Adventist schools in the context of a symbiotic relationship between mission and education is explored. It is argued that the environment of the new mission field in Australia (1891-1900) and the period of creative literary visioning (1888-1911) engendered in her mind a progressive amplification of the divinely inspired direction for Christian education in the changing world. It is also argued that Ellen White's understanding of mission focused on the inspirational visioning of 'service to God' through every occupation of life.
