What do community interpreting for the Deaf in western societies, conference interpreting for the European Parliament, and language brokering in international management have in common? Academic research and professional training have historically emphasized the linguistic and cognitive challenges of interpreting, neglecting or ignoring the social aspects that structure communication. All forms of interpreting are inherently social; they involve relationships among at least three people and two languages. Curriculum Leadership Theorizing And Crafting: Regenerative Themes And Humble Togetherness, Vonzell Agosto, Omar Salaam, Donna Elam

This chapter illustrates how indigenous concepts, philosophies, and traditions were introduced into a doctoral course on curriculum theory and undertaken by students to inform their development of cultural and curriculum leadership. A central activity in the course was clay-molding. Qualitative data in the form of personal reflections and student work samples (pottery, book review, essay) are accompanied by academic literature to provide insight into the question of how indigenous concepts support sense-making in the development of curriculum leadership that is culturally emancipatory.
