Language is an integral part of the Latino/a community. For Latinos/as, language is a symbolic marker of ethnic authenticity; however, no higher education research exists describing the ethnic identity development of non-Spanish speaking Latinos/as. The purpose of this phenomenological study was to understand how non-speaking Spanish Latinos/as understood their status within the Latino/a community and the larger campus community.
