The former resident of Bowling Green deplores the recent bombing of a rural African-American church near the city and expresses the hope that law enforcement will solve the crime, stated in an attached clipping to be the sixth in the county in the past eighteen months. He reminds them of their obligation to represent the congregation at the next meeting of the Logan Presbytery, expresses affection and gratitude for his six years at the church, and regrets that “the call of duty” compels him to accept another pastorate.

He also discusses his role as a Confederate chaplain during the Civil War.
