Abstract
This piece concerns itself with Reserve Police Battalion 101. After the men of fighting age had been conscripted into the German military during World War II, the remnants, mostly middle aged, working class men of humble background were recruited into reserve police battalions. These family men were instrumental in the murder and deportation of Poland’s Jewry. Within this work, I expose the lived reality of the men of the 101, the hard choices, and the descent of the human spirit. I further complicate the morality and character of the perpetrators of the 20th century's most vicious genocide.
