This paper presents an innovative teaching method that uses TED conference to stimulate and support learners of Chinese in improving their speaking skills. In non-target language countries, students are often reluctant to use Chinese in real life. This study overviews a case where TED conferences were integrated into a university-based Chinese language course in New Zealand. It also discusses the major findings emerging from implementing this innovative pedagogy as well as the recommendations for future research. An Investigation Of The Relationship Between Prince ShōToku’S ShōMangyō-Gisho And Two Dunhuang Buddhist Manuscripts: A Debate Over Originality And Canonical Value, Mark Dennis

This article investigates the relationship between two manuscript fragments discovered in Dunhuang, China referred to as Nai 93 and Tama 24, and the Shōmangyō-gisho, a Buddhist text written in classical Chinese attributed to Japan’s Prince Shōtoku (574-622). Shōtoku is remembered in Japanese history as the country’s first patriarch of Buddhism, revered for his patronage of the nascent faith and his great erudition. His studies under a Korean Buddhist monk led, according to early historical texts, to his composing the Shōmangyō-gisho and two other Buddhist commentaries that have been greatly valued throughout Japanese Buddhist history.

Through introduction of Fujian Province as home to the largest migrant population in the world, this article aims to address the negotiation of intersections between local and global forces that form new spaces throughout the diaspora. The "third space," a term coined by Homi Bhabha, addresses the fluid identity of Chinese-Filipino individuals that both acknowledges the traditional notions of "Chinese" while being influenced by a history of colonization in the Spanish Philippines. I incorporate my own personal experience as an American-born Chinese-Filipino navigating new spaces, and also the experience of my family members through interviews.

諧音因應漢語自身具備的語音特色而生,常被香港電影業界用作構成電影片名或相關宣傳語句,見例如:《緣來無限期》(Home again ,臺譯《愛情齡距離》2018),宣傳語為「1月18日愛情回閨」。上例的港版片名以至宣傳導語均見諧音手法。縱觀電影業界,諧音在港版電影宣傳尤為常見,比起其他地區,如中國大陸、臺灣地區等,港版電影不論本地出品抑或外語翻譯作品同樣會同上諧音手法命名。在電影宣傳上巧妙運用諧音既能讓暸解該個語言體系的觀眾留下深刻印象,又能委婉地透露該片內容大要,藉此吸引觀眾購票入場。在現代漢語修辭當中,獨特的語音特色發展出不同修辭手法,雙關借音,便屬其一。然而,歧義主要因音而見,顯得兩者組成條件互有相似。雖歧義目前被廣泛視為語病,但歷來亦有學者將歧義歸入修辭。換句話說,關於歧義的修辭性質各家各說。有見學者眾說紛紜,本文遂以港版電影宣傳為研究對象,透過電影的諧音宣傳,展示電影當中所體現的雙關和歧義,由此分析兩者是否有異。文末整合各派意見之後,將提出己見。

在台灣新電影的發展中,楊德昌對於都市生活的刻劃有別於同期如侯孝賢等導演的鄉土懷舊抒情,他對於都市中潛伏的危機,或人與人關係的不穩定都有其與眾不同的處理手法。本文討論楊德昌的兩部電影,《牯嶺街少年殺人事件》(1991)是他作品中少見的以台灣本土歷史作題材的電影,但仍不失其對社會精準而細膩的批判。《一一》(2000)為楊德昌的遺作,透過台灣一個中產家庭的故事探討現代都市人的生存狀態,挖掘生命的意義。本文旨在探討《牯嶺街少年殺人事件》中的迷惘感、《一一》這部後期作品中所傳達的幻滅感,以及導演如何呈現兩代人所面對的不同的困境,以及存在的狀態。 本論文分為五個部分:第一章為緒論,指出楊德昌電影的主題和特色,及其在台灣新電影中的地位,並簡介兩部電影所處的歷史氛圍。第二章分析《牯嶺街少年殺人事件》中,台灣人的迷惘感。第三章討論《一一》中的幻滅感。第四章借用存在主義理論分析兩部電影所傳達的迷惘感及幻滅感。最後第五章為結論,總結這兩部電影對台灣社會歷史及人文價值的貢獻。

本文受饒宗頤先生於1998年文章《(傳老子師)容成遺說鉤沉——先老學初探》啟發,故欲探究容成遺說對於老子以至往後學說有何影響。先老學一詞乃指對於道家思想起源-老子有所的影響的思想。一些上世紀出土的文獻,如《十問》、雲夢秦簡、九店楚簡等均有文獻能夠引證老子思想或有受容成氏(或容成子)思想所影響。容成一詞能散見於不同古代文獻中,而能夠反映出容成思想的成份與背景。而且在往後的不同學派的思想中,亦能見容成最為見稱的「治氣養精」之說。可見其影響實在不能忽視。為了顯示容成的核心思想,以及其往後的影響,本文將分成三部分。首先嘗試從不同文獻中整理出容成之身份以及其背後象徵的思想,然而詳細探討容成與老莊之間的近似,及其治氣養精之說,最後將從往後涉及其精氣論以及養生思想的學說加以梳理出當中的思想發展。

自上世紀末起,不少學者已展開針對漢語與外文字詞混雜使用的研究,並稱此類進入漢語語法體制的詞彙為「字母詞」;當《現代漢語詞典》正式把「西文字母開頭的詞語」收錄入冊後,此課題得到更多人關注。對於「字母詞」的界定,雖然至今仍未有絕對一統的定義,但基本共識都是要求該詞彙擁有一些特殊的表徵,例如緊縮、與固定漢字組合、難以對譯等,而不會把日常語碼混合 (code mixing) 中借用到的英語詞都歸為同一類。然而,港式粵語中卻有一些特別的英語詞彙,它們保留著原來英語的發音和書寫方式,卻不再遵從原先的語法功能和意義,僅僅被香港的粵語使用者所能理解及廣泛普遍地應用。

本文挑選了「friend」、「OK」、「short」這三個經常被本地人使用的英語詞作分析。研究它們在粵語句子中充當的功能並且探討它們與其粵語對應詞的關係,在語法層面上歸納一套能夠解釋這類英語詞借入粵語的規律和機制。

汪精衛,民國時期政治人物,早年以行刺清攝政王載灃失敗下獄傳世,後於第二次中日戰爭鼓吹「和平運動」而身敗名裂。至今學界研究大多論述其爭議的政治立場,近年雖有研究結合汪精衛的詩詞論述其背後的政治話語,但從文學角度研究汪精衛的詩詞,仍屬少數。

本文以汪精衛的山水詩為研究對象,以其廬山詩為例,全文共分四章:第一章為緒論,交代研究緣起、文獻回顧及研究方法,當中簡單交代汪精衛背景及研究山水詩在汪精衛的詩詞創作的意義。第二章以文史互證方法,嘗試疏理汪精衛出遊廬山的背景,並作創作時期的分類。第三章根據第二章創作時期的分類,提出汪精衛山水詩的藝術技巧及特色,從用境寫意、以景賦情、以我寫物三方面,論述汪精衛山水詩在不同時期的同異。第四章從歸立上兩章對汪精衛山水詩的論述,分析其詩中廬山的形象和意蘊作為結論。

本論文要處理的中心問題為:黃凡如何運用不同文學手法,表現不同時期台灣所處的政治環境及問題。

首先為緒論,將略說明政治小說的崛起與發展(形成條件、作品概況),解嚴前的台灣文學如何受到政府的控制;然後略述黃凡於七十年代末期的冒起如何引起台灣文學界的轟動,並會配合當時政治、社會背景再作解說。

然後,會著重討論政治文學的特徵,並就〈賴索〉及《躁鬱的國家》兩部小說的時代背景作解釋,〈賴索〉寫於1979年,而《躁鬱的國家》則發表於2003年,相隔二十多年,解嚴前後,台灣環境的轉變所帶來的問題亦是作者創作的動機。

接著,會就文本作深入的分析,包括人物、情節如何與當時的政治環境掛鉤、使用什麼手法表現,從而令黃凡的作品有獨特性。本章更會將兩個文本作對讀,從而深入探究它們的相似性,以及一些根本問題。

最後,將會討論政治與文學如何互相影響,政治之操弄、社會之亂象在文學中有沒有解決的出路,並評論黃凡在政治文學寫作上的局限。

〈逝城〉中的人物,以「你」泛稱著正在閱讀此文的你,在即將踏入二零四七之際作為背景,長期瑟縮在家而不願面對你城萬千更替的「你」,接到了房東來信,給予了「你」搬家的命題,繼而展開搬家的工作:寫「你」找房子、更改戶籍,到最後搬屋後的狀況;同一時間,〈逝城〉又串插著「你」在家中所找到的《逝城》一書—— 一部企圖抨擊時政而最終不獲取錄的劇本,講述一個美滿家庭因社會建設的騙局而走向破碎的劇目,兩個故事雙線並行,各自暗暗地交代著香港這數十年的足跡與歲月。

就正如〈逝城〉一文中所言,「已逝之城還是將逝之城,這留待讀者的考量」。這篇文章的解讀,不同人或會有不同的意義,上一代人閱讀,也許會有一份熟悉與懷念感油然而生,因內文描寫著香港昔日的回憶,不論是「歡樂今宵」的晚安曲,或是那個「電視撈飯」的年代。但對於這一代的人而言,便是有著更深一層的想法,時代賦予了我們更多的命題:到底香港的前路如何、本土的價值、香港人的身分追尋與焦慮、甚至看完後是對「香港」一詞不禁有種悼念的感受,種種的種種均沒有一個實際的解答,然後換來的只有一份空虛與無力。希望透過〈逝城〉這篇作品,可以牽動你內心深處的某個角落,讓你能重新反思與正視香港這個城市,這片你生活已久的土地的存在。

傳說彼岸花是地獄之花,有著死亡、離別與悲傷回憶的含義。花開彼岸,冷冽的外表既美麗又憂傷,可惜花生葉落,葉長花凋,此花在命運中注定孤獨。花朵盛開之日,是幸福的來臨,還是劫難的開始?

莠芳是名性工作者,她背負失敗的婚姻,獨自養活女兒,可惜母女關係一直疏離。故事講述她在位於油麻地的一棟唐樓工作,自卑的她拒絕別人的好意,卻又一直默默守護身邊的人,不論對女兒、朋友及鄰居等,也展現強烈的情感。隨著舊樓即將被收購重建,主角重新審視這座大廈對她的意義。她一直渴望擁有一個美好的家,但隨著收購的日子迫近,她的夢想是否能如願?

「一樓一」與唐樓的關係緊密,此篇小說旨在以獨特的視野帶出香港舊樓重建的議題。隨著社會發展,香港越來越多舊樓面臨被拆卸重建,莠芳的故事只是社會上的縮影,而事實上,更多小市民被地產商剝削,卻無處申訴。筆者希望通過小說寫出舊樓對某些市民的意義,並期望借此引起其他人對這議題的關注。《彼岸花》寫舊樓收購下的小市民、本地性工作者,也寫一個卑微的母親。

是次指導論文為一篇由多個人物描寫組成的散文創作,題目是《繁華似錦見一梔子》。

在日常生活中,每個人都會遇見不同的人。有些是自己的親友,有些是素未謀面的陌生人,他們也許行動古怪,卻有獨特的思考方式;也許他們不被身邊的人所接納的人,卻有值得被欣賞的長處。

本文紀錄筆者在求學期間遇見六個與眾不同的人,透過描寫主人公的經歷和內心獨白,帶出一個主題:無論一個人的外貌、行為和思想是否符合主流規範,也是值得被尊重、理解和關懷的。人應當有廣闊的胸懷,懂得以不同的角度看事物,不單單是知道或理解,甚至能欣賞他人。

《剪燈新話》成於明洪武十一年,隨即因其獨特的思想題材而受到當時文人歡迎。作者瞿佑在序中提及《剪燈新話》旨於「勸善懲惡」,所記之事都是「遠不出百年,近止在數載」,能一定程度上反映元明時期的社會現實。凌雲翰亦以「造意之奇,措詞之妙,粲然自成一家」評之,可見其具有相當的文學價值。再者,《剪燈新話》興起後不斷出現如《剪燈餘話》、《覓燈因話》等仿效之作,甚至流傳到海外促使諸如越南之《傳奇漫錄》、日本之《奇異雜記談》、朝鮮之《金鰲新話》等作品,不但為明清小說發展甚至漢文化區文學帶來深遠影響。

雖然《剪燈新話》中的愛情題材作品共有九篇,然而涉及人鬼婚戀卻只有金鳳釵記、牡丹燈記與綠衣人傳三篇。本文將先論證中國傳統文學對女性形象的建構,再就上述三篇分別論證《剪燈新話》對女性形象的重建。首先借西方社會學家福柯Michel Foucault對權力和知識(Power/Knowledge)的理論分析金鳳釵記的兩性地位。然後,借西方電影批評家勞拉·穆爾維(Laura Mulvey)的男性凝視(male gaze)分析的男性凝視。最後借明清時期「唯情」一派學說分析綠衣人傳的「情至」觀念。

「帝王將相,才人佳子的故事,諸位聽得不少。那些情情義義,恩恩愛愛,卿卿我我,都瑰麗莫名。根本不是人間顏色。人間,只是抹去了脂粉的臉。」人生如戲,兩者之間從來沒有清晰的分界。

中國古代早有餘桃斷袖的典故,同志文學在幾千年來文學史上不無地位。若《品花寶鑑》是古代同性戀小說的其一代表,李碧華的《霸王別姬》就是近代文學史上的代表作。

學界對《霸王別姬》的研究無數,學者主要分析小說內容的象徵性、小說和中國歷史相關的背後隱喻、與陳凱歌的改編電影作對讀比較。此外,研究課題還包括為程蝶衣這個角色作不同的心理解讀,乃至研究程蝶衣是先天抑或是後天的同性戀者。但在研究成果中,卻鮮見結合心理、社會和舞台理論分析李碧華在小說中的同性戀建構。

本文第一部分以文本細讀的分析手段,附以心理學、性別和社會理論分析影響程蝶衣同性戀傾向的外在因素。第二部分將從中西方戲劇理論剖析舞台界線模糊與程蝶衣強化同性愛戀之關係,第三部份詳細探討其自身因素多大程度上促成小說可悲和遺憾的結局。

虛詞和實詞為漢語中兩個大類。相比實詞,漢語中的虛詞數目比實詞要少,且無法充當主要 的句法成分,但由於其語法功能之多,虛詞依然佔漢語中一個十分重要的位置。在意義上,虛詞可表達出抽象、非形態的語法意義,大部分實詞之間的關係、語氣等都需依靠虛詞表達。要理解漢語,就需要先理解漢語中的虛詞。

粵語為漢語系統其中一分支,有其獨特的語言方式及習慣,虛詞的使用方法與其他分支的亦不盡相同。「同」、「同埋」為粵語中常用的虛詞, 一般而言,語法書、語言工具書都將其解釋為與「同」相當的虛詞。但實際習慣上,其實有不少情況只能用其中之一,兩者並非完全相同。對這兩個虛詞的選擇,有可能會影響句子的意義,或違反粵語的語 法習慣。因此,本文將以日常例子找出現時研究中缺漏的,有關兩者的用法及意義,並分析兩者的分別。

另外,「埋」為粵語中另一常用虛詞,與「同埋」的關係亦值得討論。因此,在分析「同」與「同埋」的分別之後,本文亦會根據這些分別,討論「同埋」與「同」、「埋」的關係。

關於《左傳》“五十凡”來源、性質的探討,自杜預提出始,就成為歷代學者爭論不休的話題,論者對其來源、性質的判定辨析迄今無定論。眾說大多考證片面,理據不足,或先入為主,或有師承關係,使得“五十凡”來源問題越來越複雜化,難以讓人信服。

直到上世紀三十年代,楊向奎先生(1910-2000)通過對《左傳》凡例逐條研究,辯駁大半,於一九三五年寫就〈略論“五十凡”〉一文,反駁了杜預說,孔子非本凡例而修《經》基本已成鐵案;經歷了對《小戴禮記》中類似凡例記載的整理,對《尚書大傳》引《左傳》凡例的歸納,加上細讀文本,楊先生進一步修正了自己的意見。其後發表的〈論凡例〉,澄清了若干歷代關於凡例來源的關鍵問題,普遍為當時及後世學者所接受。

本文旨在通過細析楊向奎“五十凡論說”,著重關注楊先生兩次論說之間的變化,找出變化的原因,指出楊先生“五十凡論說”中有說服力的地方,並嘗試對當中部分例說進行補充,使其更加完善。最後,以楊先生之說為基礎,筆者將嘗試對“五十凡”性質和來源問題提出幾點自己的想法。

一般人把表達「嘴脣」義的「脣」字當作「唇」的異體字,例如《漢語大詞典》便將「脣」列為「唇」的異體字,兩字都讀作chún,而一般場合也用「唇」多於「脣」。而古代的一些文獻,「嘴脣」之義也有寫作「脣」或「唇」的,兩字在字義、字音兩方面似乎構成異體字的關係,在任何場合都可作互換。

然而,翻查東漢許慎所著的《說文解字》,「脣」字解釋為「口耑也,从肉辰聲。䫃,古文脣从頁。」本義為「嘴脣」之義。而「唇」字解釋為「驚也,从口辰聲。」本義為「震驚」之義,兩字字義本不相同,不作混同。至於在字音方面,「脣」字在《廣韻》標作「食倫切」,為合口三等的全濁字,「唇」的反切則為「側鄰切」,為開口三等的全清字,兩字讀音絕不相同。可見,從兩字的字義及字音看,「脣」與「唇」在上古及中古時期都不構成異體字的關係。

雖然不少學者如(清)徐灝、章太炎都留意到兩字的不同,然而他們皆沒有對二字成為異體字的源流進行深入研究,二字在什麼時候、什麼原因混同成一起仍有不少探討的空間。因此,本文旨在解釋「脣」與「唇」字,並兼論兩字成為異體字的源流及其原因。

Decades after the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) demonized Confucianism as a backwards philosophy, Confucianism has once again become popular in Chinese political culture and society. This paper investigates how the president of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping, is using Confucian rhetoric to legitimize himself and the CCP. The paper explores the Chinese people's search for a national moral identity, the resurgence of Confucianism, and finally examines the speech Xi gave on the 40th Anniversary of the Reforms and Opening-up.
