Finding aid only for Folklife Archives Project 1190. Student paper titled which Charlotte Houk examines the artistic aesthetics of mailboxes within a 10-mile radius of her home in the Lonoke Community in Hart County. Houk’s interviews focus on the creator of the mailbox, their inspiration behind the designs, and additional information concerning mailbox construction and presentation. Black and white photographs of each mailbox are included within the paper.

Finding aid only for Manuscripts Small Collection 3119. Photos (3) and a reminiscence about chenille bedspreads sold by the Bruton family at their Hart County, Kentucky, Pine Ridge Gift Shop. Besides bedspreads, the shop sold locally made baskets, chalk figurines, cider,and Mammoth Cave souvenirs. Scans of the photographs are stored in the Photo Archives.

Interviews with basket makers concerning the history, process, marketing and distribution, social attitudes, historical patterns and aesthetics of basket making. Only transcriptions of the interviews were donated. Interviews were conducted by students in Lynwood Montell's Folk Art and Technology class, Fall 1977; also includes one 1974 interview.
