Theological debate has always been an inherent part of the Christian tradition. Indeed, Christianity as a distinct religious tradition grew out of such debate, as the first followers of the risen Christ argued with their fellow Jews about the nature of God's redemption of humanity and the role of Jesus of Nazareth in that redemption.
